Two people dead in West Austin shooting

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people are dead after an overnight shooting at a West Austin apartment complex.  Austin Police said they’re continuing to investigate what specifically happened in the deadly shooting, but said there was a history of domestic violence at that address before.

Police got a call about shots fired around 11:20 p.m. Sunday at the Gables Grandview Apartments on Champion Grandview Way near Loop 360 and RR 2222.

When officers got there, they found a 29-year-old woman dead from gunshot wounds. They also found a 41-year-old man, who also had gunshot wounds, dead.

Both bodies were found outside of an apartment. There are witnesses talking with police as part of the investigation.

Police are not revealing the nature of the relationship between the two people, but officers urge people who may be in dangerous relationships to reach out for help.

“We don’t see too many of these situations, and I don’t know the circumstances around this, in particular. But we don’t ever want it to come to this,” said APD Officer Surei Scanlon. “There are plenty of places for people to go and plenty of people for them to reach out to, whether it’s a 1-800 hotline number, or a police officer, or a Crisis Unit for them to call out to.”
