I-35 reopens following deadly crash in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — Georgetown police say one person is dead following a crash on I-35 in Georgetown.

According to officials, the single vehicle rollover crash happened on northbound I-35 south of SE Inner Loop Road at about 1:45 Saturday afternoon.

Investigators believe a van carrying seven people rolled three times after one of its tires blew out. One person was pronounced dead on the scene. Officials say four others were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Two people had minor injuries, according to police.

Northbound I-35 was closed for almost four hours as police investigated. The backup stretched as far as SH 45 in Round Rock. causing major delays for many motorists.
