Commissioners support development plan protecting salamander habitat

Williamson County commissioners on Tuesday added their weight to the City of Georgetown’s ordinance and a conservation plan aimed at protecting the Georgetown salamander.
Commissioners approved a resolution backing Georgetown and the Williamson County Conservation Foundation, who have teamed in an effort to find a compromise between putting the salamander on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s endangered list and others who prefer to develop land without the restrictions the endangered species designation would impose.
