3rd suspect charged in Burnet shooting

BURNET, Texas (KXAN) – Burnet police charged a third man in connection with a Sunday night shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Alejandro Eduardo Rodriguez, 22, was arrested Wednesday and charge with deadly conduct and discharge of a firearm, a third degree felony.

Police said several items were seized and submitted to Department of Public Safety’s crime lab for forensic testing.

Two others were already in custody and charged following the family dispute.

Matthew Nicholas Basquez, 17, is in custody and has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

Jack Dilon Dickison, 20, is in custody and charged with tampering with evidence.

More charges may be brought against the suspects as authorities continue their investigation.

One victim was taken to Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock for surgery. Another went to Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet and has since been released into police custody.

Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson says this was an isolated incident and the public was never in danger.
The shooting began at about 9:30 Sunday at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of North Main Street. Police were also investigating at the Best Western Hotel on the west side of Burnet.
