Drug War Reform Webinars — Register Today!

Are you a student that is passionate about ending the drug war? It can be surprisingly difficult it can be to find the tools to take action on that passion, even though it is a very popular issue among college students.

Marijuana legalization and drug reform have become hot issues in today’s political sphere. Students For Liberty and our friends at the Marijuana Policy Project and Students for Sensible Drug Policy have put together several webinars next week where you can learn more about how to affect change on your campus. April 8th– “Marijuana Policy Reform: Current Momentum, and How to Build Support While Teaching Liberty”  with Morgan Fox (8:00PM-9:00PM Eastern Time/2:00AM-3:00AM Central European Time)

Following the historic victories of initiatives to make marijuana possession legal and open up the marijuana market to legitimate businesses in Colorado and Washington last November, the issue has taken a much more prominent place in the media and public policy discussions. This has created opportunities to effectively promote further reform, but also to use the issue to further conversations about ideas and principles related to liberty issues in a broader sense.

Morgan Fox is the communications manager for the Marijuana Policy Project, the nation’s largest marijuana policy reform organization. He began working to reform marijuana laws in college and has been working for MPP since 2008. While a firm proponent of personal freedom and autonomy for as long as he can remember, he is a relatively new recruit to the liberty movement.

April 15th– “Campus Drug War Activism 101: How to join the growing student movement to end the drug war” with Devon Tackels (8:00PM-9:00PM Eastern Time/2:00AM-3:00AM Central European Time)

Devon Tackels, from Students for Sensible Drug Policy, will be hosting a webinar to discuss how you can fight back against the failed war on drugs by taking action on your campus. By utilizing your student group’s on-campus resources, you have the ability to both educate your campus, and help play a role in overall drug policy reform from a student perspective. Students will leave the discussion with better ideas of how to take action on campus, work with other student groups to promote prohibition alternatives, and use drug policy as a tool for expanding your membership. Additionally, Devon will be taking questions from participants about drug policy, SSDP, student activism, and more.

Devon is a an Outreach Director at Students for Sensible Drug Policy in Washington, D.C., where he oversees a campus activist network of over 200 SSDP chapters. Devon got involved with drug policy reform when he founded the SSDP chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University, as a sophomore, in 2008, and then served as President until 2011 while studying psychology and political science.
