Taekwondo champ wrecks apartment

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Mandy Meloon, 31, a former national Taekwondo champion, was arrested for felony criminal mischief after allegedly wrecking a roommate’s house.

According to the police affidavit, Meloon found the room on Burns Street on Craigslist and moved into the North Austin house in early March. Soon after Meloon and the victim began to to have verbal arguments. Meloon allegedly threatened the victim saying she was a Taekwondo expert and could kill him with a snap of her finger. The victim wanted Meloon to move out, according to the affidavit.

On March 8 Meloon returned to the house after drinking and again allegedly threatened the victim. The victim told Meloon to leave and she kicked him in the face. When police arrived they arrested the victim for assaulting Meloon. A protective order blocked him from returning to the house.

The victim’s friends urged Meloon to move out 10 days later, according to the affidavit, and when the victim returned home his belongings were destroyed. The total damage for the vandalism was more than $7,000.

This is not Meloon’s first run-in with the law. In 2009 she was arrested for harassing a public servant after spitting in the face of a police officer on Sixth Street. She told the officer she was an Olympic Taekwondo expert.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Meloon was removed from the USA Taekwondo team in 2007.
