Man who died in skydiving accident ID’d

LEXINGTON, Texas (KXAN) – A man who died in a Sunday afternoon skydiving accident at a jump site just outside of Lexington has been identified as John Roznovsky, 61.

Lexington EMS and STARFlight were called out to Texas Skydiving Center just after 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Roznovsky, from Austin, was dead by the time first responders arrived. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

Management of the skydiving facility, who did not want to go camera, said this was a first for the facility.

Roznovsky was described as an experienced diver who had gone through training and was attempting a solo jump. He did not appear to release his emergency parachute on time after problems during his jump.

This is the second Central Texas skydiving death in a month. Daniel Potts, 61, died during a jump at Skydive San Marcos in early March when his parachute failed to open.
