AFD investigators name arson suspect

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Friday, Austin Fire Department arson investigators identified the suspect in an East Austin fire that happened on Thursday morning at 1207 E. 13th St., near Navasota Street.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The 9-1-1 calls released Thursday afternoon were from a woman who identified the home as her son’s house, and said that her granddaughter started the fire.

AFD investigators arrested Kisa Trinee Taylor, 23. She is charged with arson of a habitation, a first-degree felony.

Firefighters at the scene reported heavy fire showing from the front and side of the home just before 9 a.m. Thursday.

Witnesses walking by said they saw the home fully engulfed and called 911 just before fire, police and emergency medical services crews arrived on scene.

“The house was already burst in flames the owner was trying to get his trucks so he could salvage them, the fire was already ignited pretty good,” said Ruben Middleton, a witness.

A dozen fire trucks, loaded with 24 firefighters, responded.

The man’s mother and another person were also able to get out of the burning home, which officials said probably started in the front bedroom.
