GEORGETOWNAt its “Christmas Comes Early” event Dec. 13, the Georgetown Area Junior Forum presented five nonprofit organizations that serve the Georgetown area with a total of $6,000.

The Georgetown Area Junior Forum has been in existence for five years and has about 30 members that focus on service and fundraising.

“We want to leave a footprint in our community and make it better,” said Anna Cornett, president of the Georgetown Area Junior Forum.

Although the women’s volunteer organization has donated to local nonprofits in the past, this was the first time the Georgetown Area Junior Forum held a ceremony to honor the selected nonprofits, which included The Nest, Hope Alliance, Heroes Night Out, Williamson County Community Coordinated Child Care and Eagle Wings.

Members of the respective nonprofits spoke briefly about their organizations’ missions and goals at the Dec. 13 event. They also shared stories about how they started and people in the community who have been touched by their organization.
