Williamson has most Libertarian Voters in Texas

Williamson County has the highest percentage of Libertarian voters in Texas for any county of its size, twice the statewide average. The Austin metropolitan area, including parts of Williamson County, continues to be the most Libertarian city in the country by voting population. Cedar Park and Round Rock had some of the highest percentages, but every major city had sections over 6% in three-way partisan elections. Libertarians have won over 20% in two-way partisan races.

The voter demographics in Williamson County’s recent growth have shaped this trend towards the Libertarian Party. The county is home to Dell’s worldwide headquarters and numerous high technology businesses. This sector of the economy is known for its prominant libertarian attitudes. Williamson County voters are also wealthier and have higher educations than the statewide and national average.
